So, for this I feel really bad that the rating is not higher.
This was my first VE Schwab and I did the audiobook. That may or may not be why the rating is so low. I was really anticipating this be better?
There are moments that I truly was interested, mainly in Sabine’s POV. I was truly intrigued and interested in her and her POV. I wanted to learn more through her eyes. When it swapped POVs I did not like the FMCs as much as Sabine. I felt like Sabine carried the plot line for me.
Now, delving into WHY. Sabine’s POV gave us the Poem in which the title came from. Sabine’s POV gave us Henry, (Ramilda), The farmer, Matteo… I felt like there was more information, more time for learning the rules.
The others (Alice and Lisa) I felt were lacking in intrigue. It was more like they were more concerned with one another. Sabine gave us the WHO WHAT WHEN WHY and HOW MANY JELLY BEANS.
I was bored for the majority of this read because nothing was happening. In the two POVs I did not like there was nothing going on. I found myself watching TikTok or playing Pokémon go and waiting for plot.
