honestly, i think the mrs. piggle-wiggle books represent not only the peak of comedy, but the single most effective means of getting me to grow a conscience and to participate in what can be generally referred to as "good behavior" ever achieved in the history of the world.

never has didactic content been so entertaining. betty macdonald went off and i would reread this series in a heartbeat.

name a more iconic showdown than mrs. piggle-wiggle versus that gross kid who wouldn't take a bath.
