Five things about The Railway Children by E. Nesbit πππππ
1. I cannot believe I never read this as a child. I would have been obsessed! As an adult, I love it.
2. Three children and their mother have to move to the country suddenly in turn of the century England.
3. Their father has been arrested - set up for being a spy.
4. Their mother is trying to make ends meet by writing until the children make friends with an old man who helps them all. He even helps exonerate their father.
5. The whole thing is very dark but cozy in that late Victorian childrenβs book way.
