Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

5.0

Harry is left fuming in the dark for most of this book: No wizarding contact all summer RIGHT after Voldemort returns, no access to what the Order is up to, most of the school thinking he’s a liar, Dumbledore avoiding all contact, unable to talk to Sirius, even Quidditch is taken away from him.

Poor kid can’t catch a break. He’s trapped at Hogwarts with Umbridge who is probably as bitter and cruel as Voldemort, and Snape despite his nuances and his personal sacrifices is also bitter and cruel.

I believe that it’s this restrictive environment that festers all this teen rage and recklessness in Harry and it’s what allows Voldemort to take advantage of this, and ultimately lure Harry into the Department of Mysteries which leads to Sirius’ death. Devastating.

Dumbledore finally realizes what it cost to keep Harry the child protected from the weight of the prophecy, and reveals the truth to Harry “the one with the power the Dark Lord”. And so begins the end game!!!
