Great start for this series!
This story was a surprise! It manages to be original and unexpected, while remaining close to the classic Hero’s Journey. Charlotte is a lovely character, and the care the author put on her development paid off.
I do feel it’s a book almost exclusively aimed for teenagers, since the way it’s written reminded me more of a young woman’s journal than a novel. I missed some dialogue earlier in the story.
The discoveries at the end bring this first book into a rewarding conclusion, and the path is clear for Charlotte to continue her learning and adventures.
