Read It, Don't Eat It! by Ian Schoenherr

4.0

Okay, I must admit a bias here – obviously I’m going to like any book that explains how to take care of library books in a kid-friendly way. This one covers most of the possibilities: no marking on, standing on, sneezing on or chewing on books; don’t leaving them out in the rain or get food on them. What does Schoenherr recommend we DO with our books? Share them! The rhyming text introduces some new vocabulary like dog-ear, censor and deface, but they’re easily defined through the cute illustrations. Kids already in the know will have fun admonishing the animal characters with “we don’t do that!” This is a wonderful introduction to book care that will be shared by librarians, teachers and parents alike.
