āIn loving her, Iām already haunted enough.ā

*wipes tears* Hands down, this right here is Kateās best work to date. Though the pace is slower than I typically prefer, Kate takes us on a 700+ page journey of gripping, authentic heartbreak and healing and truly, I wouldnāt have it any other way. Just, wow.
If Iām being totally honest, I was a smidge nervous about starting this book. Not because I just knew it would leave me a blubbering mess by the end, which it absolutely did, but because I didnāt really have a strong connection with Delphine while reading the Ravenhood series way back when. Oh am I eating my words now! Delphineās story is one full of loss and pain and rebirth. Itās tragically beautiful in a way I could have never predicted. I am in awe of her strength and her heart.
Speaking of hearts, mineās simultaneously overflowing and breaking for our resilient soldier Tyler Jennings. Oh my word, this man! His patience is unmatched. His loyalty is astounding. And his pain is raw and real. Witnessing his mind shift from that of a kind-hearted, smitten teenager to that of a hardened hero is something I wonāt soon forget.
Delphine and Tylerās love story wasnāt easy but it was certainly heart-fought. So pure, so bittersweet. Wow, wow wow. Simply put, I am blown away. Kate, thank you for sharing Severed Heart with the world. I canāt wait to see what you have in store for Tyler in the future š„¹
