The prologue was peak horror writing, but unfortunately the book goes downhill from there. The challenges the characters face become repetitive and tiring. I personally found the ending wholly unsatisfying. I also don’t understand how you follow up your book with an entire passage about wanting to be sensitive about writing indigenous characters and experiences right after killing off the main two indigenous characters in the book??
Graphic: Vomit, Gore, Murder, and Child death
Moderate: Mental illness
Minor: Colonisation
