No Escape: Part One of the Mercenaries for Hire Duet by Jillian West, Jillian West
5.0
This book has a grittier feel than the author’s other works, but it fits the tone and the story being told. The romantic relationships remain *relatively* low angst, it’s the outside characters and setting that add a darker vibe. I love the FMC! She’s smart, feisty, and independent. The guys are a fun mix of alpha-holes, psychos, and cinnamon rolls, and their interactions with each other are both hilarious and dramatic. The plot has some twists and turns that kept me glued to the page! There is a cliffhanger, but it’s not an awful one (imo), and we don’t have to wait long for book two
