Lapidary by Tayla Grossberg

“The world is a dark place,” I told him. He pushed hair behind my ears. “The world is much lighter with you in it.”
I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the characters that I did. I love a book that has character growth! Strong female, morally gray male, daimons, archangels, fae, mermaids, gargoyles, and more in this world, what else could you want?!
From the very first chapter, Tayla Grossberg (the author) grabbed my attention immediately! It starts out with Natka, finding her fiancé dead off a balcony. Grief taking over her completely she becomes lost. But then, ends up in a rough neighborhood bartending for rough characters. She is a tough strong female, who can take care of herself but still needs help from an unexpected daimon, Devton. His character grew on me throughout the book from “meh” to “ yes please”!
Natka is searching for a white crystal that her late fiance had in his possession. While on her search she learns more about herself and the sacrifices one makes to help others.
And the twist at the end has me looking forward to reading the second book!!! I highly recommend for fantasy fans!
