I decided to read [b:You Are Mine|17888912|You Are Mine (Mine, #1)|Janeal Falor|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1367880789s/17888912.jpg|24246098] without really knowing anything about it. I didn't have any expectations either. I just wanted to read something, anything really.
Needless to say: [b:You Are Mine|17888912|You Are Mine (Mine, #1)|Janeal Falor|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1367880789s/17888912.jpg|24246098] isn't just any book.
Intense, tantalizing, fascinating, that's what this book is. And much more.

Women aren't worth anything. They are owned by men. They can't be free - or can they? It's shocking to read about a society, where even the thought that a woman might possibly be more than just a posession, is scandalous. But on the other hand, things like these don't only exist in the fantasy world [a:Janeal Falor|6950698|Janeal Falor|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1361565535p2/6950698.jpg] created. Similiar things did happen in our past and in many parts of the world women are still far from being as much worth and having the same rights as men.
To read about little girls that get punished because they dare to say something without permission or innocent women who are sacrificed without real reason isn't easy. But it makes the reader think and it makes him feel - if only incomprehension or horror. These feelings and thoughts stay with the reader even a long time after having read this book - a book that's almost unforgettable.

So yeah, this is a pretty amazing read. Intense and mesmerizing really.
I forgot everything around me while reading and I got pulled into a horrifying and yet fascinating world. It doesn't happen often that I get that strongly pulled into a story as happened with this one. Every time I was interrupted and had to stop reading I needed time to first realize who and where I am.
Finishing this book was hard. I didn't want to let go of a story I started to fall in love with. I didn't want to return to a reality without Serena, her sisters and friends, without Zade.

I don't know if there's anything about this book that I could critizise.
I mean, the whole idea with warlocks, spells and magic seems a bit strange at first as it isn't something I read about very often. But I started to really like it.

The plot is not only interesting, with many unexpected twists, but really extraordinary. The characters are unique and I've grown to like some of them quite a bit.
The writing style is simple - but positively so.

Oh. And the romance. Where shall I begin?? No instalove, no love triangle, no cheesy love declarations. I almost couldn't believe it.
Love is a concept pretty unknown to Serena. So yes, the romance needs its time to develop. And it's very fragile at first. But no one could possibly resist Zade, right?
...

I am so glad I read this book. It is so strange. It is amazing. I love it.
