You, Again by Kate Goldbeck

5.0

I picked this up for the autumnal cover and the When Harry Met Sally comparison, and left with a very warm and fuzzy feeling in my chest.

Cushy romcoms are nice and all, but throw me a story that’s going to tear my heart out and put it back together again any day of the week. There’s nothing quite like reading your way through awkward encounters, deep misunderstandings and heartbreaking confessions to bring a spark to my wee soul (is that weird? I’m going to go with no).

You, Again was everything I wanted it to be and more. I devoured it in a day and I could probably sit here and talk about it for weeks. I haven’t rooted this heavily for a fictional couple in a long time (ok it’s me we’re talking about, so that’s maybe like a year). Ari and Josh are the perfect problematic pair - yes I heard that - with deep seated issues who are thrown together on multiple occasions before they form any sort of relationship, and I am SO HERE FOR THAT SHIT! I was obsessed with the heated exchanges at the beginning of the book (not really a spoiler so don’t worry) and the opposites attract vibe.

The witty back and forth banter between them throughout each stage of their relationship had me giggling and kicking my feet (it’s cliche at this point but I’m not even ashamed), desperate for more and more and even a little more.

Usually when reading a romance where you’re aware of who is end game, but you have to slog your way through their many ‘other’ relationships whilst waiting for the inevitable to happen drives me insane, but I loved the friendship between Ari and Josh so much that it was barely even an annoyance.

I highlighted SO MUCH of this book and even wrote notes - which I almost never do - on said highlights, so I’m extremely disappointed that they don’t seem to be transferring over. I’ll just need to buy myself a physical copy and annotate that instead… that’s a reasonable justification to buy another edition right?

Anyway, READ THIS BOOK. You’re welcome in advance.
