I passed this book a few times at my local Half Priced Books and always thought it looked a bit cheesy so walked on by. However, after watching the final couple episodes of Picard where Riker calls Troi Imzadi a few times I had to get this book and I was not disappointed. Is this book on par with the mirror universe book The Sorrows of Empire or McCoy: The Provenance Of Shadows? No, but it has its own merit and place. It is a fluffy, light, romance book in the best of sense - it is the Next Generation version of T'hy'la. Here is where the closet romantic in me or perhaps a young/navie look at love will come through but this book made me appreciate that some love takes time to develop and that Riker and Troi were supposed to be together. A cheesy, fun read that should be gone into knowing it will not be deep or philosophical but satisfying none the less.
