Bawled my goddamn eyes out at the ending. The prose was breath-takingly gorgeous and so measured out. It was deliberate and beautiful and absolutely bittersweet heart-wrenching. I haven't read a book like this before that so unflinchingly confronts themes of grief, trauma, and healing, especially from YA. I think the genre and the standards of it lent perfectly to what LaCour was trying to convey with this book. Also, coming from a therapist, this is the kind of book I would recommend teen readers struggling with similar feelings in their lives. I cannot talk any higher of a book, I genuinely adored it and it will remain a favorite for the rest of my life.
