Lukas by Carian Cole
4.0

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. I enjoyed Lukas & Ivy's story for the most part, but wanted to smack Ivy upside the head quite a few times. Lukas was nothing but committed, honest, and loving the entire book right from the start. Ivy, not so much. I loved that he was fairly relentless in her pursuit of her, but not in a creepy "doesn't understand that no means no" kind of way. Just because he was younger than her didn't mean he didn't know what he wanted. Looking at him and knowing that he's a tattoo artist and part of a band (kinda), with piercings and tattoos himself, lots of people wouldn't necessarily think "that guy has it together and is a mature and responsible guy" but he totally was and I loved that. He was a great guy and a total softy for those he loves. Definitely the epitome of the saying that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Although I literally do that with books lol.
Personally, I kind of had a hard time believing that Ivy's daughter would do what she did in this story. I know teenagers are often irresponsible selfish brats, but I just can't believe she would do what she did and deny it for as long as she did. Maybe I'm naive, but it didn't seem believable to me for how much she seemed to like Lukas and the band and even her mom.
I listened to the audiobook, and enjoyed both Tatiana & Nelson's narrations. I almost felt like Nelson Hobbs sounds too clean cut to be Lukas, but it's nothing against him. It was still really well done. On to Talon's story!
