Fairy Tail, Vol. 06 by Hiro Mashima
3.0
Man, "Fairy Tail" is just so awesome that I can't seem to stop reading it!... Wait, what's that? It's been over a month and a half since I read volume 5, despite the fact that I have the first 45 volumes just lying around?
Well, what do you know. I *can* stop reading it, after all. Somehow, while I find the series entertaining, I don't find it very engaging.
So, I picked up where I left off - our heroes are fighting hard to stop a terrible demon from getting resurrected.
The good bits: this ends in a fairly surprising and fun way! The problem of villagers turning into demons at night is solved in a surprising and fun way, too! ("Destroy the moon!" they asked. "Okay, we'll do just that!" was our heroes' answer)
The bad bits: attempting to resurrect a demon which might kill a lot of people and wreak havoc is a punishable offence! The perpetrator will get a metaphorical slap on the wrist and be allowed to carry on.
The ugly bits: I'm starting to feel that there are too many whimsical, quirky characters who are meant to be funny in this story.
