What a sweet story!
There is a lot to love here: the magic system was really interesting - I enjoyed watching Ashley come into her powers; the side characters which added an adorable found family aspect to the plot; the plot itself - the fight sequences in particular were really good; and the spice was good and spicy. I really appreciated that we got to see Dravarr grow and evolve his opinions about Ashley as the story progressed - on the whole I felt his character really worked very well. I wasn't quite so taken with Ashley - it wasn't very clear to me what she saw in Dravarr, and while it was explained why she liked Alarria, I'd have preferred it if we had seen more of her coming round to the place rather than being up for it from the word go.
This is definitely a series I will read more of - there was a hint of a sense of an overarching plot to the series I would be interested in finding out more about. I think this is a very gentle introduction to the world of orcs if this is just you dipping your toes in the seedy water - a great place to start!
