I made a mistake reading this not having the second book on hand it seems ðŸ˜
It was enjoyable and gripping, though I was more invested with Crier's perspective more than Ayla's (I want to knock Ayla in the head actually...haha). The worldbuilding is okay and the prose is easy to read as well. It's definitely much more character driven than plot but the overarching conflict is still solid. It's nothing life changing or mind blowing or epic but it was entertaining and immersive enough that I enjoyed it nonetheless. What kept my attention is definitely the relationships and especially Crier herself because there's just something charming about Crier's curious perspective.
So if you're looking for an easy read with a dash of one-sided enemies to lovers sapphic in a world where sentient artificial beings exists and have enslaved humans, give this a try!
On a totally different note, I just want to give Crier a hug and also kick Ayla for reasons.
