Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
2.0

Absurd, nonsensical, circular, unbelievable.....

Each chapter reminded me of a Seinfeld episode: there was some joke that got repeated three dozen times and one character was singled out to be gaslit or lampooned. I certainly laughed a few times - but there were 45 chapters, and most were more nonsensical than funny or poignant.

The titular phrase is made in reference to soldiers' sanity, and I thought that everyone was insane from the beginning. But the last third of the book surprised me with the depth of their absurdity.
