I'm the Girl by Courtney Summers
4.0

Couldn't read this fast enough. Summers has such an incredible way of forcing the darkest aspects of the world—particularly with regards to the way it treats women—into the light so we can't look away from them, and no matter how many of her books I read, I'm kind of obsessed with the way she writes heroines who are complicated, messy, and don't give a damn if they're "likable" or not. The plot of this particular book was less tight for me than Sadie or The Project but still immensely readable and complex, from the characters to the institution at the heart of it all, Aspera, and how it reflects our world is extremely dark and unpleasant ways. Kind of can't wait to see what Summers writes next—I think she's officially a must-read author for me by this point.
