The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty

5.0

Really enjoyed this. Both similar to and completely different from the Daevabad trilogy.

SAC is so good at building her worlds. And in this one, she did it in a not too trudgy way imo.

And the characters! This is where she excelled in this one. Not that she doesn’t in city of brass, but they were extra special here for me. I loved how she built on them and used their strengths and flaws to add to the story.

Amina is a strong FMC who is rather self aware. She knows herself well. And I can’t wait to see where she takes her crew in future books.

Raksh is also special in his own Loki-esque way. Or maybe Spike from Buffy would be a better comparison. Anyway. I loved him too and hope to see him redeem himself.

There are so many more characters that I hope we get to know more in the future. And the twist at the very end?!? Loved it.

Oh and the narration is truly fantastic.

Will definitely continue the series.
