The Girl She Was Before by Jess Kitching

5.0

I've been looking forward to reading this book for months. It only came out a few days ago and I finished it in 2 days. It's Jess' debut novel and as a massive psychological thriller fan I was excited to read it. Omg....I was hooked! And not just because of the story and writing style (which were both amazing) but because I could relate so much with it. The story focuses a lot on bullying and how it can change a person. Having been bullied a lot as a child I can confirm how it does mentally change you (I'm now terrified of water thanks to being held under).

The story was gripping and I just couldn't put it down because I just needed to know the ending. And omg I DID NOT see that coming! Like...at all!

To be honest there was nothing I didn't like apart from a few of the characters (but then they were pretty nasty!) I didn't particularly feel bad for Nat at some points and as a mother myself I was shocked at her decisions at times.
But honestly....any psychological thriller fans check this out!
