The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
4.0
adventurous mysterious tense fast-paced

“the world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”

this was my first time reading a sherlock holmes mystery and it was so much fun!! i love reading mystery novels and trying to guess the plot twists, and this one had a lot of misdirection and little details. surprisingly holmes has very little input except for the end; it’s narrated by watson and many of the chapters are his diary entries and letters. also the eerie atmosphere on the moors was reminiscent of wuthering heights, very dark and gothic. in some ways this book was exactly what i had expected and in other ways it surprised me.  i’ll definitely read more holmes & watson in the future.
