Another wild ride of a book from Stuart Turton, seamlessly blending genres of mystery, psychological thriller and science fiction.  In a unique post-apocalyptic, dystopian setting, this world feels both charming and unsettling.  The story is complex, layered and full of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.  Characters are complex, some lovable and others loathsome.  The main protagonist, a villager named Emory, is well developed and it’s thrilling to watch her character learn and grow.  Exploring both the resilient and deeply flawed nature of humanity, this story certainly shines lights on both the best and worst of humanity.
