Loathing You by Amina Khan

Got this because I was told it was a dark wlw romance that was suited for people who "loved angrily"

Of course I'm going I'm going to click a novel with a description told to me like that.

I have thoughts.

This novel is not suited for people who are rooted in realism I'm afraid. I didn't know this was written on Wattpad till the Acknowledgements but it... makes so much sense. (That isn't as much as a backhanded compliment as everyone thinks. People on Wattpad were thriving.)

Yeah this novel is toxic and kind of silly in its total seriousness but WHO CARES. We as women who love women have EARNED THIS.

Semi-unrealistic sex? IT'S PASSIONATE FUCK IT. Toxic ass female lead who breaks the hand of another character who touches other female lead? GO GIRL GO! One hundred and fifty words dedicated to just porn? WOO!

I could not catch my breath reading this book these girls are a fucking MESS. A hot ass mess. Every step we took we fell FOUR steps back. I couldn't take my eyes off it. My basic human sense and morality were going off the charts with this novel. Everytime the characters would say something cringey or the dialogue would get repetitive I would just glaze my eyes over and skip a few paragraphs.

....There was times the dialogue was very cringey but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess

No one should think this behavior is acceptable AT ALL... but it is entertaining to read as fictional I suppose.

Liked the mom's little letter in the end.

Some shit I didn't like:

--- Hate a bully plotline would never read that of my own free will and there were moments it was REALLY giving that tbh. It was set up as they were on equal terms but I was raising my eyebrows.

--- One of the main characters is a minor and remains that way through the whole book. She engages in sexual intercourse with another character (quite a bit) who starts as a minor but turns 18. Teenagers engage in sexual intercourse, I'm not saying they don't, but the thought of like older adults reading this book makes me uncomfortable? Am i making sense? I was the same age as the main characters while reading this but if I was any older I would have just closed the book immediately

--- Never really like a whole closeted plotline but this one is more bearable than most I guess.

--- I know the use of homophobic slurs is more common in this century and it's probably more realistic that they throw that shit around but FUCK that shit.
