5 stars, without hesitation. This book gutted me in the best possible way—I sobbed at so many points throughout.
Taylor Jenkins Reid captures a queer relationship with such tenderness and devastation, especially set against the backdrop of the time it was written in. The ache for these characters to have everything they deserve was overwhelming; their love felt both fragile and unstoppable.
The novel also offers a sharp and necessary exploration of toxic masculinity in male-dominated spaces, and it doesn’t shy away from showing how that pressure shapes ambition, relationships, and identity. At the same time, I learned so much about space exploration—woven seamlessly into the emotional core of the story.
This is a book that will stay with me for a long, long time. I know it. 🌠
