And Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokhov

2.0

Too long. This book is in 4 parts. Peace, War, Revolution and Civil War. It follows a bunch of sorta gross horny people who live in the Don valley (pretty much Ukraine). Starts pre WWI. People are in villages having affairs and arguing and eating carp. Then WWI. These guys have to fight in it but aren't super invested in it. Then the bolsheviks seize power and some of these Don folk are on their side and others side with the Whites. Brother ends up having to kill brother and it's sad. The end.
