The Comet Seekers by Helen Sedgwick

3.0

I only gave this book three stars instead of two because I really enjoyed François and Severine’s story. I did not care at all for Róisín and her incestual relationship with her cousins. I just can’t get behind things like that and I have no sympathy for how their relationship ended and that they lost each other. I also just don’t like Róisín in general. François describes her as selfish in her guilt and she absolutely is. I wanted to be happy with her relationship with François but it was very one sided and seemed to only benefit Róisín as she didn’t care much for François. I also didn’t like how much this book jumps through time. It was interesting at first but I though let the book was going to be more about Róisín and François’s relationship but it’s not. Just when I though the story was on a good track and something was finally about to happen, time jumps again and we see completely different characters. I muddled through this book because I don’t like leaving books unfinished. The writing is beautiful but for me it doesn’t make up for a drawn out and mostly boring story.
