Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami

Did not finish book.

First half was interesting, but it felt dragged out somewhere along the way. I feel like more could've been done with the scene with the presumably trans man in the onsen because the narrative didn't feel like it was trying to be transphobic and more like a sincere desire to explore transness, but it fell somewhat flat in what more it could have done there (i.e. wondering how trans people feel having to live up to cis expectations of gender and beauty). I dunno, it was great at first but bored me eventually.
