Where can I even begin? There’s just too many feeling and opinions flowing after reading that book. Just… wow.
Firstly, I had to give it 3 stars of the back for how captivating it was (for me) but I can’t even say it’s because of the plot, but because of the author. The way that Ana writes is captivating. It’s has a nice flow, it shifts between two different perspectives and it’s humours.
The book also gets its three stars for the humour.
BUT the cons. Firstly it’s a dead giveaway from the start, two people meet and hate each other now it’s obvious they will fall in love so then how long that is dragged on for before a twist becomes tedious, the book could be 200 pages shorter at least. The two books before this one in the twisted series seemed to give more. I think this was the most basic plot out of the three i’ve read. But yet… it is a nice easy read, it’s a classic enemy to lovers so it’s a breeze if you like these.
SPOILER:
The plot twist (which was small) came right at the end. While I think that twist was great (Max Favour) and also the argument that comes after it, nothing will ever make me agree with that scene that follows when he tricks her into thinking he’s forgiven her, but actually uses her body and insecurities to hurt her and makes mean comments that her body is all she’s good for etc. If you can deal with dark scenes in romance this book is for you. Trust me, I am normally completely fine and not triggered at all by any graphic scenes but for me it was messed up and I was shocked. I feel like it would have been easier to read if Josh had chased after her for much longer and done more to redeem himself. She forgave him easily. He didn’t reassure her enough and it set an example that if a man did that to a woman it’s that easy to forgive. It’s not.
Pro: if you like s*x scenes, this book has many detailed ones. Very spicy scenes!!
Overall: I love the writer, I love her style. The book is a great enemy to lovers book and a nice read if you want an uncomplicated plot for a nice weekend read or holiday book etc. But, it’s my least favourite in the twisted series so far, the plot was too basic, not enough twists and turns, and the twist it did give you, came with quite an abusive scene. Maybe it’s just me and for others it’s not that deep, but I’m normally completely unaffected by this stuff but that trickery is unforgivable and if it is… he needs to do a lot more reassurance.
3/5 :)
