Those Two Words (Sutton Bay Book 1)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Only after seeing Johanna Thomas for the first time in years, two things are clear. The burns from her leaving never fully healed. And she still lights me up like no woman ever has."
"That makes me happy."
She looks puzzled for a second. "What does?"
"Seeing that smile again."

Oh my goodnes 🥹. This book. These characters. This Story. They will continue to live in my mind rent free for the foreseable future! I am blown away by Ronnie's ability to bring such a heartwarming and relatable story to life. A story that deals with mental health, familial relationships, best friends, and love. A story that wraps you in it's embrace like a warm hug. So complete and fulfilled.
These two characters, Patrick and Johanna, have both experienced so much and endured things that are so heartwrenching. You just feel for these two, pulling at your heartstrings, the entire book.
Johanna is so strong and resilient. She constantly deals with her mental health, things that many people live with every day and are so important to discuss. I feel like this book gives the people who struggle with similar issues the space to feel seen and heard, to feel understood. She is a beacon of hope that many people can find comfort in. I applaud her character, the work she puts in, and the growth made throughout the book.
Patrick has also had his struggles: loss, understanding, acceptance. I feel that he is relatble in the sense that he is the flip side to Johanna. He gives family members, friends, and loved ones of those who deal or have dealt with mental health issues a way to feel heard. A way to feel understood with the all feelings and emotions that come along with trying to help someone you care about. And while he struggles to come to terms with many aspects of his life, I truly respect and admire the love and dedication he has for his daughter, Lottie. Their relationship is so sweet and adorable, and who doesn't love a man that can braid hair?
But him and Johanna together? They just fit together like two puzzle pieces (IYKYK). Their relationship, while it goes through its rocky moments and hard times, is so sweet and endearing. I truly feel their connection and love for each other jump from the page. It is both sweet and spicy, but in the most perfect way. That Patrick, he has quite the mouth, too 🥵! It's always the sweet and quite ones you have to watch out for 😉.
I feel like this debut from Ronnie Matthews could not have been better!
⚠️Warning⚠️
Language, medium spice, adult content, death/loss, mental health representation (depression/panic attacks/anxiety)
