This could have been 4 stars …if not for the never ending QUESTIONS. And this was far too long of a book for the main way information gets shared is through hundreds of questions from the FMC. I swear there were entire chapters, probably more than that, dedicated to simply answering her questions. For Christ sake
But aside from that, everything else was really good. The romance was lovely and the slowest of burns. I actually really like the MMC.
I will say though that the ending was pretty gory. More than I typically sign up for. So please beware. Like…bodies just being effffed up. On page. I tried my best to skim over it without missing important details about characters’ fates but yeah. Yikes.
I read this via both ebook and audio, and when I was relying on audio, the questions made me almost DNF. I was at like 70% and I think I was into a second straight chapter of just Q’s. I was over it. But something told me to switch to the ebook and that absolutely saved it for me. So I will say it’s more tolerable if you eye-read it, should you struggle with the audio. That’s not because of the narrator who has the best male voice I have ever heard a woman do. It’s simply the writing, which didn’t lend itself to that format.
