Incredibly powerful read. I don't read a lot of literary fiction, but I'm so glad I read this, as it is a potential common read for my university. This is very well-done. The narrator is a 12-year-old child and the author does a great job of capturing her voice in a memorable way. It would have been easy to make this a dry read by accident, but it was engaging, heartbreaking, and very thoughtful. Have no idea if this will make it to the final round, given the subject matter (take those content warnings seriously), but I highly recommend this.
