that was my first rooney’s book i’ve read in english and now i start to get why so many people love her
i always preferred character driven books over plot driven and intermenzzo is as character driven as it gets
and it might be slow paced but it is in no way boring, i’ve picked it up continuously every day, willing to get back to the characters who feel so real
despite having character preferences, i see a little bit of myself in Peter and i also find Ivan a bit childish, the interchangeable povs were in no way annoying, because the text grips you and also because characters grow on you a lot
i loved themes of life and existentialism and grief and i took a lot of pleasure in reading characters’ thoughts on these topics
i will certainly check out other rooney’s books in the future
