Berlin Calling by Lilo Moore

The European Song Contest brings challenge and excitement for Rose. She has been beaten down by circumstance and lack of encouragement.
Her self doubt is the reverse of how she portrays herself in her online forum. She has quite the following on her accounts and seems to understand social media and uses it to her advantage.
Emil has self confidence but also a strong familial bond to his sister whom he is quite protective of, though her love for him is just as strong, if not more so.
Emil and Rose are similar in their lack of communications and precious relationship hurts.
Rainbows, unicorns, star crossed lovers, all surrounded by a mysterious person who is out to destroy the competition and relationships on the way.

This story is so sweet. It was an easy read. It almost seems like it is going to be a stereotypical romance where they know they must be together but something is keeping it from happening. But it isn’t. It’s more real than that, communication is their enemy, as in most relationships. She is all rainbows and unicorns, and doesn’t take her self seriously. He takes everything seriously, a good opposites attract.
This reads more like a real life romance more than a fictional one which I appreciate.
