Underland: A Deep Time Journey by Robert Macfarlane

5.0

Utterly enchanted by Underland. Love the nod to Epping Forest and its mycorrhizal network, the cataphiles of Paris, dark matter projects in Boulby Lab Yorkshire, nuclear waste in Onkalo.

Lyrically moving, the book takes us thru Earth’s underworld via history, art & memory. As usual, MacFarlane’s prose is poetic with its vivid imagery and sensitivity.

Beautiful book, made me miss travel & exploration. But more importantly made me think about how we have been moving in the Anthropocene and how we would be remembered as we surface into the future.
