Spoiler off-screen sexual assault/depictions

Is most of my rating from the nostalgia I feel? Yes, yes it is. Honestly, I missed a lot of things that now as an adult made me take a moment to process.
Spoiler The scenes where Mr. X mentions O's sexual assault and John Matthew recalling his sexual assault experience.
Not to mention, the idea of manhood the Brotherhood has. I do not think it is wrong, but I do not necessarily agree with everything they say or do. Like the subtle slut-shaming, especially when Mary did it to Layla. Sure, she was jealous, but there was no reason for it.

However, I also have to remember the time it was written in and times are a lot different now then they were back then. It is a nice feeling going back re-reading this series after I have caught up on their lives now and seeing how far all of them have come. Also, the vague idea of knowing what is coming for them all too.

The biggest thing that I will always love about this series is the huge found family trope. The Brotherhood and their shellans are family. I have always loved it and I always will.
