"The Umbrella Lady" didn't quite hit the mark for me. Perhaps as it wasn’t the original authors work and only a ghost writer as I am a fan of most of V.C Andrews work. It had its moments, but overall, the pacing felt a bit sluggish, and I found myself losing interest at times. The atmospheric setting was a plus, but the story itself didn't quite live up to my expectations. While the characters were decently crafted, they didn't stand out as particularly memorable. I’m hoping the second book is an improvement with more development. If you're into slower-paced mysteries, this might be worth a shot, but it didn't fully win me over.
