I must admit I was really curious because all of the hype around this book, so I saw a fan made audiobook on youtube and decided to give it a try.
Unfortunately the quality of the audiobook was the only thing I enjoyed. But if you do like the series I would highly recommend The Reading Hag Returns on YouTube. She did an excellent job.
The reason I didn't like this book was mainly because of Feyre the main character.
Feyre is so dumb and that really annoyed me throughout the whole book. Possibly minor spoiler in the next sentence <Spoiler> the plot is so obvious, especially ones you realise it is inspired by Beauty and the Beast. This again is not hard to see.
This book is mainly a romance then a fantasy. The next opinion could be me, I'm asexual so a lot of romance plots don't work for me. But there's nothing in the romance i 's not interesting or intriguing. There's no thrill, no reason to believe the romance. My only guess is that there is lust?
I tend to lovee fantasy so I was curious about the world. But it was nothing but flat. Feyre doesn't asked questions, not interesting questions. Almost everything Feyre asked is something you as the reader will most likely already know or at least have guessed. So there is nothing to suprise or to want to learn more about. It just boring and basic.
This could also be the reason why the characters are flat.
<Spoiler> Feyre is dumb and painting is her whole personality.
Tamlin is a pretty magical guy that wants her.
Lucien has a tragic background so is a bit grumpy i guess. I feel like he is only there because we needed a Lumière.
Rhysand is scary, but don't tell anybody maybe he is not that bad. Because he needs to be available to be a love interest in the next book.
Alice wants to protect her poor nephews.
Amarantha loves power and lost her sister to a human.
That's a there's to these characters .
Sorry if I didn't like your favourite book/serie. If this book had the thing in stories that works for you that is great. It just hadn't what I like and that okay.
