Not Just Gal Pals
by Elizabeth Luly
Thank you to netgalley for the arc!
Not Just Gal Pals is the perfect sapphic fall romance to read to get you into the season!
Jenny is an influencer who’s been kinda canceled, so she takes a break and goes to her home town for her best friend’s wedding. Unfortunately Blake, her home town butch lesbian doctor will also be involved in the wedding, and Jenny thinks Blake hates her.
Blake actually has had a massive crush on Jenny since they were in highschool, but becomes super awkward and snappish when Jenny’s around.
I wouldn’t call this book enemies to lovers, but they definitely weren’t friends. I don’t know if this book was supposed to be somewhat of a Pride and Prejudice retelling, but the author used a lot of Jane Austen references (especially to Emma) and there was an incredible scene where they’re all dressed up in regency clothing and Jenny falls in the pond and Blake who’s dressed all dapper (a la Mr. Darcy) rescues her!!! Jenny would be Elizabeth and Blake is obviously Mr. darcy.
The romance was so sweet and sexy(and so spicy). I loved how autumnal and cozy it was, I love small towns in the fall! 4/5 stars
