Pegasus e o Fogo do Olimpo by Kate O'Hearn
3.0

I don't know exactly what to say about this book. I liked it a lot, but there are also several things that bothered me when I was reading it, starting with Pegasus itself. I just couldn't understand the connection between him and Emily. I mean, there was magic involved on this, but still. I couldn't understand how they became friends. I think he became important to her too fast. In fact, I think everything happened too fast, and not always in a good way. I just had the impression that she understood things too fast, like she expected that a magical horse would appear at her building and then she would find out that Olimpo still existed.
There's also Joel to consider. Theoretically, he'd never spoken to Emily before and didn't want anything to do with anyone. Still, he was the only person Emily could think of to help her, and he said yes. How weird is that? He believed in a completely crazy story and was willing to be part of it with a girl that he didn't know. He told her his darkest secrets, he shared things that he didn't share with anyone. No one becomes friends with somebody the way they did. It was just too unbelievable. Hm, I think that's the word I needed. It's such an unbelievable story, and not because of the magical stuff. The characters just weren't real enough.
And the gods were also kind of weird. You see, I love Percy Jackson, and I'm used to the way Rick Riordan tells the story of Olimpo. I'm used to selfish gods, proud ones. Gods that think they're better than anyone, gods that don't need help. I'm used to the gods that forget to claim their children and fight each other every once in a while for the silliest reasons. So yeah, it was weird to begin the book with Jupiter saying: "We need to fight this things, not only for this world, but for all the others too". I mean, that's not something Zeus would say, right? Also, we have Diana. She sounded way more like a mother than a goddess. It was really weird, I guess there isn't another word for it.
In spite of that, the plot was really good. I loved when they were all at the CRU and Paelen helped them all to escape. He was my favorite character :D I loved how he realized what he'd done and how he tried to redeem himself. I loved how we was smart and strong enough to answer the questions Agent J asked without really answering it. He was a really good character, we could relate and like him very easily. At least I did.
Anyway, after the first few chapters I was getting used to the characters and their strange reactions, so I started to really enjoy the reading. The story was fun and it kept my attention. I liked it, and I'll probably read the next one. But I really want there to be more interaction between Emily and Joel, something that justifies their friendship, and a little bit less interaction between Em and Pegasus. I really can't understand them together and probably never will. Of course, the title of the series is Pegasus. But I have to confess, I do not like him that much.
