The thing I enjoy about Patricia Briggs' books is that she has so flawlessly blended her fantastical elements into the 'modern' world. Her characters are also really engaging to read as well, and she keeps you turning pages with the story. I love her Mercy Thompson series, so I had to check out the Alpha & Omega one as well. I've read this book twice now, and each time I've enjoyed it. It's got some really complex characters that are not perfect, but they are fascinating. I loved learning more about the Marrok in this book, as he has been quite the mysterious figure in the Mercy Thompson series. I also like the addition of Anna to the series. She is a lot like Mercy -- an outsider, but she has such a different history and personality from Mercy that she distinguishes herself from the Mercy series.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy novels and strong female protagonists. If you're going to read this one, definitely read the short story in "On the Prowl" first, as it tells you how Anna and Charles got together. If you read at least the first novel of the Mercy Thompson series before reading this one, you'll also know more about what is happening in this series, though, it isn't a must. The two series overlap, but they do a great job of standing on their own as well.
