After Lambana: Myth and Magic in Manila: A Graphic Novel by Mervin Malonzo, Eliza Victoria
4.0
Urban fantasy based on Filipino folklore and mythology! I think the story was really fun although alittle confuusing and disjointed at times. Some scenes reminded me of Junji Ito's work although alittle less visceral.
I didn't like the sketchy artstyle at first but it grew on me but i LOVED the colour palette here. Was even more impressive after reading the afterwords where there were different palettes for the different worlds
Overall I enjoyed it, despite the storytelling not being as seamless as I wouldve prefered but in a way it adds to the atmosphere of the story, makes you feel like the lead character so not necessarily a bad thing. Definitely underrated. I think this would be a great animated movie too.
