Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

1.0

Very genuinely, this is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. It is brutal, disturbing, violent, yada yada, but there is never any message to parse and the climax felt unfinished. I was grasping for something the entire time (is this about veganism? Is this about factory farms? Is this about nihilism? Is this about what we humans do to one another when we think we can get away with it?), but it was just… boring?

Perhaps it’s my fault because I was looking for horror and this sounded like horror, but when the entire thing is horror, it’s just not very scary.
