Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner

funny mysterious reflective slow-paced

3.5

A very well written, short but emotionally punchy novel about a woman’s exile to an out of season hotel and her reflections on what brought her there. I found it well done and engaging, loved the descriptions and interactions with all the various hotel guests. I was
about to be very disappointed and indignant at the end but it redeems itself at the last second.
Almost 4* but not quite, a little slow and not quite absorbing enough. But very enjoyable.
