I've never described a book as 'sad' but I guest there's a first time for everything. Not only sad, but also very unsettling and dark, even if at the end of the day the characters are 16 year old girls. I reckon even 16 year old teenagers have a violence inside them.

This book was compared to Pretty Little Liars, and I definitely agree. However, I don't remember that much about PLL so I'll compare it to If We Were Villains but Tiny Pretty Things being much better. Especially at the end, though the ending could've been given more time to breathe. But, apparently, there's a second book! Which, yeah.

In my opinion, the characters are the golden touch. Even though, at first, it's hard to understand why these three girls were the ones chosen for the POVs (except Gigi, she makes sense), and where the hell is that Cassie from the first chapter; it all comes through.

Nevertheless, I'm most intrigued by the male characters. Henry's a cryptic asshole whose actions and sayings are all crooked. He's scary, characters have mentioned this, and impossible to figure out. He's clever, though, as the end lets on. Alec's everyone's golden puppy but it's like he has no idea what's going on around him, and worse yet, when things get hard for Gigi, well, you'll see. He just wants it 'easy'. And, last one, Will. Who I can't quite decipher either. The only factual thing we know about him is that he's gay, unrequitedly in love with Alec and hates Bette. But he's slightly hysterical, and sadly we see him so little.

I could go on and on, but I'd prefer to just keep reading the next book ❤️‍🩹
