The Humans by Matt Haig
5.0
This was undoubtedly one of the best books I’ve ever read. I have heard many good things about this author, Matt Haig, but have never gotten around to reading anything by him. Now that I have I definitely want to read more of his work.
This story had a not-so-original premise: typical alien comes to Earth and shenanigans ensue. But this extraterrestrial story focuses on so much more than a standard sci fi premise. To make what would be a long review (from me, anyway) short, the story is focused on many humanistic realities and is cleverly written to show us - the readers - a very unique perspective of our existence rather than speculate an alien invasion scenario.
Oh there were suspenseful moments, for sure, but there was also passion, humor, poignancy and a LOT of confusion lol. It was a full range of emotions surging throughout this book.
Extremely highly recommended book. This is probably one of my favorite books so far this year, and probably for all time, so of course it is a 5 star read. Please pick this book up and read it.
