Boomslang
by Naomi Lucas
Rating: 4/5 stars
Steam level: Multiple scenes with open-door content; kinky
Thoughts:
This story hit the ground running with great action scenes and a precarious introduction between both main characters. Despite how suspenseful and scary Laura’s circumstances were, her and Azsote’s introduction had the feel of a meet cute because of how natural, honest, and sweet their interactions were.
I enjoy this series because of the overarching story that connects each book. The way Lucas gradually reveals the secret of Earth, the Nagas, and the Dreadnaut creates such a suspenseful, foreboding feeling that significant change is about to happen.
Azsote is one of my favorite male leads in this series. He observes Laura lovingly, and the way he regards her is very endearing. There are lingering touches, appreciation of scents, and a lot of studying of each other’s features. The way Azsote and Laura shyly interact while gaining familiarity with each other is so sweet and revealed how preciously they thought of each other.
Similarly to the other Naga Brides books, Boomslang was deeply sexual, primal, and rough in many ways. It’s dark, and Lucas does a great job at world-building and depicting the differences between Naga and human culture. Seeing these differences come to life in the romantic and sexual scenes was very satisfying to read.
I would recommend this book to readers who like steamy sci-fi romances! This is not a standalone book.
Tropes: OTT male lead, dystopian, sci-fi romances, monster MMC, human FMC, cum play, kinky, panty sniffing, tail play, cozy and rough steamy scenes
Trigger warnings (spoilers):
