Because of the pandemic , I chose to homeschool. Because I chose to homeschool, we do a lot of reading. this is a pick for our family read-aloud and oh my goodness. This captured the hearts of a 36 year old woman whom has never read this book before , to the hearts of my 10th grade, 7th grade, 3rd grade, and 1st grade kiddo's.
It has a darker theme, but done in such a whimsical way that it lightens it some how. After we finished the book we celebrated by watching the Disney movie and pick up little hints of the book inside of it. This will be a treasure for sure. It is also THE book that has convinced my kids that books are better than the movie - (a rule I've been trying to convince them of forever.)
