Rescuing Emily by Susan Stoker
5.0
Cormac “Fletch” Fletcher is a man who doesn’t give up. He’s also a man that cares about the welfare of others. Emily Grant is looking for something better for her daughter. Her daughter’s name is Annie and she will steal your heart right from the beginning. Emily reminded me of how much enjoyment I got out of having my mother read to me.
Our author has created a villain that seems to have a screw, or maybe even a couple, loose. With our current terrorism issues going on, he would fit right in. He’s also not afraid to bully women – he’s a great advertisement for self defense classes.
There’s a point in the story where references are made to a couple from the previous book. So even though the book may be considered a standalone, to keep true to the series you may decide to read them in order. But since this is only book two, you could read Rayne’s story right after you finish this one.
I thoroughly enjoyed Emily’s tale but once I got started I just couldn’t stop. Had to know that Emily and Annie were going to be all right by the time I got to the end. It really broke my heart with how Emily had to survive. I think we have to be more aware and without talking to someone don’t just assume based on what you see. She’s willing to give up a lot for her child but sometimes it’s not enough and we have to be willing to extend a hand.
I’m going to leave you with a beforehand warning. If you are one that doesn’t keep a tissue close at hand, you will need it before the ending. Once I was able to get through that, the author had me wanting to know if Annie is going to have her own story – she stole every scene she was in. My sad news for you is that the author’s next Rescuing book will not be coming out until November. But our author has created a Kindle World for her Special Forces. She has several other authors that have added to this world so you may want to see what books are included in this series.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
